For people who want to go on thinking about the emotional impact of climate change, Cambridge Climate Therapists will be offering a small group for thinking about our future.
The climate emergency is presenting us with an alarming picture of the road ahead. Some of us might absorb ourselves in activism regardless or others retreat into despair or denial. But wherever we find ourselves the old adage still stands, talking with others helps.
Cambridge Climate Therapists are planning a group to be held weekly over a period of 9 weeks where people can share their concerns hopes and fears. It will be facilitated by two experienced therapists.
We aim to start the new group in Autumn 2022
‘We facilitated our first 9 week group earlier this year and feedback was very positive. We are happy to be able to run this group again this Autumn. Once again we will be guided by Covid safety advice but hope that we can meet face to face centrally in Cambridge but on zoom if it seems more appropriate.
More details will be available shortly but please contact us to register your interest. ‘

CLIMATE LISTENING BENCH DATES IN JULY AND AUGUST 2022
As part of a response to the climate change talks at COP 26, Cambridge Climate Therapists invite you to join them on the CLIMATE LISTENING BENCH on the following dates.
At New Square, Cambridge, between 10.00 and 12.00
Saturday 30 July
Saturday 13 August
The CLIMATE LISTENING BENCH offers you an opportunity to talk to specially trained ‘climate listeners’ from local voluntary organisation Cambridge Climate Therapists. We offer a friendly, empathic ear to anyone who would like to talk about their climate concerns.
We all share a roller-coaster of emotions when we become aware of the seriousness of the climate crisis. Fear, anxiety and a sense of powerlessness can feel overwhelming. COP26 has brought the climate crisis home to lots of people but not everyone has someone they can talk to. Many people are feeling anxious and unsure about what to do. We know that 75% of children and young people in a recent international survey are particularly fearful about their future and the future of the Earth.
“Having someone listen to you,” adds Ro Randall, founder member, “is really useful. It brings you out of isolation and helps you realise that there is somewhere beyond the awful feelings, that there is lots you can do about the climate crisis and that there is a community of people to do it with.”
BOOK THE CLIMATE LISTENING BENCH FOR YOUR EVENT
We have taken our Climate Listening Bench to events organised by other groups, such as the Wolfson College and the Herts and Essex Community Farm Farm Fest If you would like a climate listening bench at your event, please contact us on https://cambridgeclimatetherapists.org
WORKSHOPS, WEBINARS AND TALKS
Since July 2019 we have offered also a variety of workshops, groups and webinars, mainly to our local community but also to organisations outside – NHS Digital, the Centre for Alternative Technology, Anglia Ruskin University, the Alliance for Sustainability Leadership in Education and Kings College, London. In our local community we have offered workshops through Transition and XR for community activists on:
- Coping with climate distress
- Talking with family and friends about climate change;
- Finding your voice – how to engage others with the climate crisis.
We have also held debrief sessions for activists who have been involved in direct action and activists who have been imprisoned.
If you’d like us to bring a workshop on these or any other climate related themes to your organisation please contact us on https://cambrigeclimatetherapists.org
